The story

Most of it goes to waste.

Over the last 20 years, I have met so many entrepreneurs, changemakers and everyday people.

Many of them have real passion, real skills and years of experience. I think of a farmer in Perak, and a woman who left her job at a big accounting firm to bake from home. I also think of a woman in Kota Kinabalu who makes brass jewellery by hand.

But most of what they know goes to waste.

The problem is not what they know. The problem is that nobody is learning from them.

The people who have actually built something are usually too busy to teach. Many of them think nobody would want to learn from them, and most of them have never been asked.

So what they know stays with them. A few of their staff might pick some of it up, but most of it is lost. At the same time, the internet is full of people talking about things they have never done themselves.

We have plenty of people in Malaysia who know how to do things. What we don’t have is an easy way to learn from them.

That is why I started Ker Academy.

It is not another online course. It is a way to learn straight from the person who did it, through a masterclass, a workshop, a talk, or a visit to the place where they work.

I check every expert myself, and I only list people I would send my own friends to.

We are starting in Malaysia because this is where I know the people. The same thing is happening all over Southeast Asia, so that is where we will go next.
